I am an avid DXer and listen for weak signals, and the 765 receiver wins every time. The 7700 features are superb with 200w available and built-in RTTY decoding and PSK 31, waterfall display and mouse click fqy change. The twin band pass tuning works well like all recent Icoms. The noise blanker on the 7700 is marginal at best. The 7700 is noisier and requires a lot more input from me to adjust out the noise or interference and still can't match the performance of the old 765. HAVE A 2.4 khZ filter for SSB and a 500 cycle filter for CW and except for a little more versatility on the 7700, it can't be beat. The 765 is quiet, easily adjusted for any noise or interference on the band, and works EVERY time with minimal adjustment. I compare every receiver I own to it and found that the 7700 comes up short. The 765 is the keeper and I have had it for over 15 yrs. They were all good but not great except the IC 765. I had many Icoms in my shack, the 756 Pro III, IC 765, IC 7600, and now the 7700.
